Give me a child and art-ill return a wiser heart

A Note for Our Young Snacks portfolio Readers

In this book, you may notice a small spelling slip. Instead of correcting it for you, we invite you to spot it, think about how it could be fixed, and celebrate your discovery! Learning is not about being perfect, but about asking questions, noticing details, and reflecting on how we can improve.

This activity connects to one of the *IB Learner Profile values: Reflective.* When we reflect, we learn from our experiences — even from small mistakes — and use them to grow stronger.

So, dear reader, can you find the word that looks a little different? Correct it and add it proudly to your learning journey. Mistakes are not failures; they are stepping stones to creativity and growth.

Perfect  Here’s a *small fun game* you can add, using the “little teacher” idea and colored pens:

Here's a small fun game you can add, using the "little teacher" idea and colored pens:

🎯 Game: Be the Little Teacher!

1

Each student gets a colored pen (red, green, or blue).

2

Read the text together. When a student finds a spelling mistake, they raise their pen like a teacher's pointer.

3

That student becomes the "Little Teacher" and corrects the word on the board or paper.

4

The class claps once for every correct correction. 👏

5

At the end, students circle their favorite corrected word in their color pen and write a "star word" ⭐ beside it.

This makes students:

👀 Observers (IB: Reflective)
🗣️ Leaders (IB: Communicators)
🚀 Risk-takers (correcting in front of peers)
